Dam Charming Ice Z is, via her Grand Prix sire Crown Z, a granddaughter of the renowned Ratina Z and, on the dam's side, a granddaughter of Judy Ann Melchior's Grand Prix mare Cold As Ice Z. This makes Chacthago Ice Z's dam a half-sister of the international 1m50 horses Crystal Ice Z and Nino Ice Z. Granddam Annina Z herself performed creditably at 1m35 level and is a half-sister of Judy-Ann Melchior's former team asset As Cold As Ice Z, who in turn produced such 1.40m horses as Ziberia Z and Antartica Z. Another showpiece from this direct line is Leslie Burr-Howard's WEG and World Cup final horse Charisma Z.
